I grew up eating calzone, and I can’t even remember the last time I had it!  This is so exciting – it is really, really yummy! 🙂

The fillings are up to you!  It can be anything! 🙂  It is best warm, but isn’t horrible cold!  🙂

AIP Calzone

1 recipe Plantain Wraps

1 Sauce:
Coconut Cheezey Sauce from me!  (Just use the sauce recipe here…)
Apple Butter BBQ Sauce from My Big Fat Grain Free Life
Queso from He Won’t Know Its Paleo
NoMato Sauce from He Won’t Know Its Paleo
Mango Sauce from the Primordial Table

1 Meat: (About 1 Pound Needed)
Cooked Bacon
Cooked Seasoned Ground Meat
AIP Salami
Grilled Shrimp
Grilled Chicken, chopped

1+ Veggies:
Steamed or Roasted Broccoli
Caramelized Onions
Sauerkraut
Olives
Chopped Pickles
Steamed Spinach

1. Cook the plantain wraps according to the directions.  Lay a piece of parchment over cooked plantain wraps, and flip.

2. Spoon sauce over half of wrap.  I found that doing the long and skinny half made it easier to cut the calzone in the end.

3. Fold the wrap over the fillings – then return to the 375 degree oven and bake for 15 minutes.

4. Let cool slightly before you cut.  Yum!  These pictures are with the Coconut Cheesey Sauce with Bacon and Caramelized Onions.

The following picture was made with Sausage, Sauerkraut and Coconut Cheesey Sauce.  I let it chill and while it is best warm,  it reheated well.  🙂  It was so yummy! 🙂
